Coding 1 students at Bradley Central High School celebrate CS EdWeek every day. During CS EdWeek, students in Mr. Jonathon Ownby’s classes used CoSpaces.io to create a 3D virtual environment. Students created a virtual amusement park ride. The ride design had to have a theme. Students created a 3D design for the amusement ride vehicle, track, vehicle speed, vehicle stops, and interactions. Some students created things such as an undersea exploration in a submarine. Other students created things like a Christmas themed rollercoaster ride using CoSpaces.io. A Bradley County Public Education Foundation (BCPEF) grant-funded project provided virtual reality (VR) headsets for students to use in experiencing the VR design in a truly VR environment.
Coding 1 students continued to code and build virtual environments with a museum project. Students worked to plan a theme, layout, and visitor interactions. Then, students created the virtual museum experience with various interactions with museum artifacts and student narration.
CoSpaces.io enables students to create their own 3D environments, such as virtual museums and futuristic cities, using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface. The platform enhances learning through interactive coding options, allowing students to add creative elements to their projects. Its compatibility with Virtual Reality (VR) goggles offers immersive experiences, enabling students to step into their creations and explore them in a way that is very different from the experience of viewing the 3D environment on a computer screen. These future forward technologies and learning experiences provide CTE students with experiences that can translate and deepen throughout their school and work experience.
